Cayucos Surf School is an assortment of local, experienced surfers that are hardcore outdoor enthusiasts and love to spread the stoke of catching waves. The majority of our surf lessons are with first time surfers; so no need to worry about being a little nervous to give it a try. Our surf instructors have ample background experience with various types of people surfing for the first time and know lots of tips and tricks to aid in success.

Cayucos surf lessons are taught year round! Because of this, we supply thick, full body wetsuits that’ll keep everyone warm even in the colder winter months. Cayucos Surf School partners with Buell, who is based out of Santa Cruz, and masters in keeping surfers warm in much colder waters than the beautiful Central coast. We believe that learning to surf should be fun, warm, and comfortable. With our many years of experience, we have learned that Buell wetsuits achieve this the best. Whether you’re here surfing in January, or soaking up the sun in August, you won’t have to worry about exposure to the elements because our gear can handle all conditions.
Lesson Location
The surf conditions are changing everyday. Because of this, there’s a couple locations that we love to teach surf lessons to make the most ideal surf experience for you. We teach surf lessons in Cayucos everyday. We teach surf lessons in Morro Bay as well. All of our surf locations are 18-22 miles west of San Luis Obispo.
On most days you’ll meet your instructor at the Morro Strand State Beach Day Use Area
What do I need To Bring?

We’ll cover the rest! Please bring a towel for changing into your bathing suit and for drying off after the lesson. Sunscreen to apply before your lesson. Drinking water for after your lesson and a pumped and positive attitude!
For the surfer that’s already got the fundamentals down and is looking to improve their surfing, Cayucos Surf School also offers an intermediate – advanced surf lesson. This lesson includes 1 on 1 private surf coaching that’ll evaluate your current skill level and apply the necessary measures to take your surfing to the next level. For this option, you will be skipping the land lesson at the beginning and optimizing your time in the water. Instead of practicing the fundamentals on the sand, the instructor will cover surf theory and how to apply that knowledge to different situations and types of waves. Directly after absorbing the surf theory knowledge, you and your surf coach will hit the water and go put the new knowledge to the test!
